“Nothing compares to the simple pleasure of riding a bike.” — John F. Kennedy.
Dan is one of the quiet contributors to our community. You can find him each day repairing bicycles at the University of Newcastle. He freely offers his time to keep a fleet of bicycles operational for the newly arrive to Newcastle.
Cycling is a joy for many – for the newly arrived it is also a vital means of transport and connection. It helps these families to get to school, English classes and appointments.
Dan is pivotal to the Refugee Hub bike programme. After completing bike and safety awareness training, each participant visits Dan to receive a reconditioned bike and instruction on maintenance. The bikes are donated to Refugee Hub by generous members of the community and supplied free to the newly arrived.
Dan's contact details can be found at NewcastlePushBikeLibrary.wordpress.com. Thanks for “keeping the wheels moving” Dan.
